Do you ever feel a sense of creeping dread? Do you find that life is getting on top of you, everything is just overwhelming and you don’t know where to start? Are you tense and irritable with people around you?

If this sounds familiar you might be suffering from stress and anxiety – an all-too-common problem.

Stress and anxiety have been dubbed ‘silent killers’ by some doctors. This is one of the most serious epidemics of our time – affecting young and old; men, women and children; and people from all walks of life. It is often hard to treat.

Some people seek help when they feel we need it; but many of us ignore stress and anxiety because we feel pressure to carry on. Sometimes it just all becomes too much.

Our talk and interactive workshop aims to help you better understand how our bodies respond to stress. We will explore the consequences of stress and anxiety, and what you can do to help yourself. We will also talk about the different ways we can help you, through osteopathy and hypnotherapy.

Louise Coyle, a registered hypnotherapist with the charity Anxiety UK, specialises in helping people who are struggling to cope with life’s problems by teaching them ways of reducing and managing stress and anxiety. Louise will be teaching simple, practical tools to help you manage those anxious thoughts and feelings. These tools can be used in everyday situations and will help give you inner resilience to deal with everything life might have in store.

Olivia Swabey, one of our osteopaths here at the Maris Practice, has a special interest in the physiological consequences of stress and anxiety, and how to manage the symptoms. Olivia will be explaining what happens to our hormones, nervous system and cardiovascular system when we get stressed, and osteopathy’s role in managing acute and chronic stress.

This event is on Saturday February 22nd from 1pm to 2pm. Cost is £10 per person.
