‘International Day of Yoga’ is an opportunity to embrace the healing benefits that yoga can bring to our mental and physical health.  This class will focus upon the fundamental foundation for all aspects of our health……SLEEP!

The way we sleep affects our metabolism, immunity, memory, learning, creativity, nutrition, mood, emotion, motor skills, and overall physiological function throughout life.  When the body is sleeping it is rebuilding and restoring its tissues and optimizing its interrelated physiological systems – cognitive, cardiovascular, endocrine, musculoskeletal, respiratory, digestive, urinary and reproductive.

If we reflect upon a poor night’s sleep, we can appreciate its effect on basic functions such as clear thinking, decision making, steady mood, stamina and coordination the next day, on a longer term basis, it can deeply affect our wellbeing and make us more susceptible to disease. Unfortunately for increasing numbers of people, sleep has become elusive or problematic.

This 1 hour and 30 minute class will examine how to reclaim healthy sleep and exercise good sleep hygiene. Yoga breathing & mindfulness techniques will encourage the ‘relaxation response’ and calm a busy mind.
