Pilates Classes

There's more to pilates than developing 'strong abs' or 'core strength'.

Pilates is probably best known as a system of exercise for developing ‘core strength’, particularly the abdominal and pelvic floor muscles. However, Pilates is an exercise system that focuses on stretching and strengthening the whole body to improve muscle-strength, flexibility and posture. Pilates can also help mobility, co-ordination, balance and breathing as well as relieve stress and tension. Pilates is suitable for all ages and fitness levels, from complete beginners to high-performance athletes. There is evidence that pilates can provide pain-relief to people with certain types of back pain.

At the Maris Practice we offer small class sizes (maximum 6 people) taught by Osteopaths. The exercises are tailored to the individual, making them more effective. Classes and workshops have been developed and are taught by Maris Practice Osteopath and qualified pilates instructor Jessica Busen-Smith and Maria Faye, an experienced pilates and yoga instructor who also holds a Masters in Osteopathic Medicine.

Suitable for all. Focusing on pain relief, improving strength, posture, flexibility and wellbeing.

Classes are at 10am on Saturday mornings but times can sometimes vary so please check with reception.

The fee is £20 per class.
